Services
General Ledger Review and Adjustments – monthly, quarterly, or annual services, as appropriate for the client needs –
- Bank Reconciliations – Timely reconcile bank statements to the activity recorded and identify any issues
- Chart of Accounts review and/or setup – Create or revise the individual accounts needed to capture the activity of the business in such a way that both management and third parties (such as lenders and tax preparers) receive the reports they need
- Review sales, inventory, payroll, and other Items to ensure they are correctly flowing to various reports as intended
- Review balance sheet accounts and reconcile to supporting work papers to accurately reflect the correct balances of various assets, liabilities, and owner equity accounts (Examples: agree cash balances to bank reconciliations; agree payroll liabilities to the quarterly and annual tax returns; agree credit card liabilities to the related statements; allocate loan payments between the interest and principal portions per loan amortization schedules and/or lender statements)
- Review income and expense activity to ensure that transactions are coded to the correct line items for accurate reporting and tax preparation
- Preparation of year-end reports and supporting work papers to streamline tax preparation
Payroll –
- Payroll Set-Up in QuickBooks or QuickBooks Online – Identify and turn on the appropriate payroll items for wages & salaries, deductions, and taxes so that payroll activity flows correctly to accounts in your general ledger and to the payroll forms needed for compliance; enter critical information for each employee and record any historical year-to-date payroll prior to going “live” with current payroll
- Payroll Processing - Enter employee time or other pertinent information for the current payroll period; preview the paychecks for accuracy; Print paychecks or create the automatic payroll deposits; confirm the amount of payroll tax payments that are required and execute them for timely remittance
- Quarterly and Annual Compliance - Preparation of federal and state filings as required, including Form 940 (Employer’s Annual Federal Unemployment [FUTA] Tax Return), Form 941 (Employer’s Quarterly Federal Tax Return); Form C-3 (Texas Employer’s Quarterly Report), and Forms W-2 & W-3 (Wage and Tax Statement and Transmittal of Wage and Tax Statement); assist with executing any payments due at filing.
Annual Vendor Reporting – Provide assistance in identifying the vendors and payments that are reportable annually on Forms 1099-MISC and gather the necessary data to prepare the forms for filing.
Sales Tax Reporting –
- Assist staff with the set-up of Sales Tax Items for customers and parts and services so that they are properly taxed when sold
- Reconcile sales per Sales Tax Liability report with revenue per Income Statement
- Review the Sales Tax Liability report for reasonableness as to taxable/non-taxable amounts
- Assist with or handle the timely filing and related payment of the periodic Sales Tax Report with the State Comptroller
- Record the sales tax payment
Special Projects – Assist as requested with various projects (Examples: help prepare packages for loan applications or refinance; assist with budget development; assist with investment portfolio tracking or analysis; assist with royalty tracking or analysis; assist with personal financial matters too sensitive to be delegated to staff)
